Our first-ever annual report summarizes the combined accomplishments of the ACTION global health advocacy partnership during the 2016 calendar year. We made significant steps forward due to the collective efforts in mobilizing to secure continued and increased support for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Over the last six years, we have helped bring more than US $15 billion to the Global Fund; $5 billion to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to support poor countries in immunizing half a billion children; and $3 billion for the long-neglected fight against undernutrition. Last year, ACTION helped secure over $9.8 billion of the nearly $13 billion in new pledges to the Global Fund. ACTION also strengthened core advocacy tools such as our member of parliament (MP) engagement, media champion training, and journalist delegations.
The annual report also previews where we aim to be in the next five years. Together with our partners and allies, we will strive for a world where everyone has equitable access to health, where children have the nutrition support they need — particularly in the first 1000 days of life — and where global health systems have both the financial and policy infrastructures to be sustainable.
